The holidays are officially here. How much Halloween candy have the kids and you eaten? Once you come down from your sugar high, switch gears and enjoy some family-friendly events in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, or Lansing that will keep you in the holiday spirit and work off some of that sugar. We here at Vredevoogd Heating & Cooling love the following events.
Silver Bells in the City
Head to downtown Lansing after November 16, 2018, to check out its annual Silver Bells in the City. This official holiday season kick-off includes thousands of lights, an electric light parade, fireworks, music, the official state Christmas tree, and Silver Bells Village. You and the kids will be blown away by the beauty and festivities of this event.
Wonderland of Lights
Also starting on November 16 is Lansing’s Wonderland of Lights, which runs every Thursday through Sunday. This festival takes place at Potter Park Zoo and lasts until December 30. Zoo employees turn the location into a winter wonderland filled with lights, holiday displays, and animal exhibits. Your children will love the cookies, crafts, and interaction with live animals.
Those living in Grand Rapids should head over to East Grand Rapids Middle School on November 22 to enjoy the fun at Gobble Wobble. Arrive at the middle school with your running shoes on, because this is a 4.3 mile jaunt around Reeds Lake. The little ones can participate in Widdle Wobble, and there is cider, donuts, and face painting at the finish line.
Princess Tea Party
Is your little girl a princess? If so, head to Kalamazoo and enjoy the Princess Tea Party at Henderson Castle on November 18. Tea is provided, of course, and your tot will also enjoy her magical pretzel wand and plenty of princess stories. Activities also include dancing and, yes, your daughter can dress up as her favorite princess character and she will meet Prince Charming.
